Which of these is the best word for a 250th anniversary?
@evan ducentkvindekjariĝo
@evan okay, but seriously, it's annoying that english doesn't have a good way to derive native terms for these occasions
russian, for example, works similarly to esperanto in this case, you just form a word from the number, the word for year and a noun-forming suffix. 100 years is "столетие", 250 "двухсотпятидесятилетие", etc.
honestly i won't be surprised if in the next 100-200 years the only such latin-derived terms remaining in use will be "century" and "millennium" and ppl will just say "50/100/250-year anniversary"
