Pelikoneessa win10 koska, vaikka linux pelaamisessa on tultu pitkälle, niin ei vieläkään tarpeeksi pitkälle ja koska opiskelen. Vaimon läppärissä on win10 mutta se harkitsee liukumista linuxiin.

Mutta pointti oli se, että Microsoft vissiin koettaa painostaa siirtyy win11. Jokaisella koneelle on viimeaikoina ilmennyt yhteys ongelmia. Nettiyhteys on, mutta vain murto-osa kaistasta päätyy käytettäväksi ja samaan aikaan linux ja Android toimii ongelmitta.

Joten, koska mediakoneessa ongelma oli tv, jota ei enää ole siirtyy se juuri nyt linuxpuolelle. Vaimon koneesta odotan tuomiota ja pelikone tuskin tulee muuttumaan koska pelit ja koska tämänhetkinen win11 vaatimustaso on liian korkea koneelleni.

I accidentally updated my system and the kernel panics now unless I choose the old kernel on boot via f11. It's very inconvenient. I want to go back.

Okay, I'm trying to set up a Brother printer on Debian. The open drivers don't allow me to use the scanner, so I have to use Brother's, and the process involves manually entering the printer's IP address.

I cannot figure out how to find a printer's IP address. I have searched, and the instructions are pretty baffling.

Any suggestions? Help very much appreciated.

It occurred to me today that I probably know less about what’s under the hood of my Project Bluefin install than I do about any Linux that I’ve ever used.

I’ve dove deep into the guts of Arch, regular Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Debian and so many other distributions.

My god, at the time I’ve spent over the years just coaxing Debian into what I expected it to do on different machines.

I keep meaning to read up on ujust and a few other things, but I just haven’t had to.

Click button. Do some stuff. Go about my day. Everything just works.

Honestly, Silverblue was just as stable, but Bluefin has some nice quality of life tweaks.

I could have sworn Solus Linux supported Secure Boot. Sadly, I get this error when trying to boot the USB. I can press "OK" and it brings me right back to my PCs UEFI menu.

So, I'm done testing: With #ZorinOS there really is no argument for not trying out #linux, if you use the basic functions most people use on a computer.

You have browser, e-mail, documents, photo-editing and more in a nice package, with an easy to use software installer.

For most people this will work just fine for a homecomputer. So buy a refurbished laptop, install Zorin and get yourself an EU mail/file hosting service. You will now be free from (US) tech giants and have your data secured.

Pues lo he hecho. He eliminado Windows de mis dos equipos. Al final he encontrado las alternativas que buscaba y ya estoy harta de Windows 11. Lo primero, los requisitos, que ya todes lo sabemos así que me ahorro la explicación. Lo segundo y lo que más me ha molestado, han eliminado la compatibilidad con las gráficas de los procesadores de ambos equipos. Así que ahora sí (espero) adiós, Windows

Prefiero mil veces tener mis equipos funcionales a tener los programas para la ps2 que a lo mejor encuentro mejores alternativas (y por mi papo que las voy a encontrar aunque me cueste incluso tener que aprender a crear scripts que hagan las funciones de los programas)

I had cause to use GIMP today, my first time working with shiny version 3.

Even without using the new headline features like non-destructive editing and auto-expanding layers [www.gimp.org], the whole UI has had a polish and feels really nice to use, especially in my distro's violet-and-dark Mokka theme.
