Quelle app non Google utilisez-vous pour vos SMS/textos ? Idéalement une app qui n'envoie pas toutes mes données loin de moi. Merci !

I've been teaching "Introduction to #Mobile Development" for 4th-semester students over the last years.
I've used #Android and #Java but got quite disillusioned with the Android development ecosystem (to call it a moving target would be a bit of an understatement).
So this year I tried out #Flutter, but that seems to have a rather steep learning curve for relatively inexperienced students... So off the top of your head(s), what would you recommend for this kind of course?

I tried installing https://skylight.social/ (short form video app that uses the AT Protocol) on my “degoogled” GrapheneOS phone just to see what it's like, and it immediately demanded that I install Google Play services in order to use it
It's possible to sandbox them on Graphene OS and I do have a user account with them for my banking app, but I'm really not interested in using a social app that demands them
An example of frustration with Google.
Google added a compulsory "system browser" to my Android.
Should be a no-frills unowned Internet browser, right?

I've been preaching this for YEARS now, and I'm really happy to see how this idea is gaining more traction. Your phone is a ludicrously powerful computer. DO MORE WITH YOUR PHONE!
Like here, it's supremely silly to shoot a bunch of video clips at an event, and then WAIT to edit those clips on a laptop or desktop later. Just drop them into an editing app on your phone, and get that stuff done!

Periodically, Google will push these bragging notifications about all the new "great features" they've added to my Android phone. I usually flip through the presentation, like I did just now.
Except none of it actually *is* on my phone, because as soon as I bought it back in 2021, I disabled the Google app, and later hard-deleted it using the Android Developer Tools. So clicking on any of it just takes me to the Play Store.

Googles Pixel-10-Serie wird wohl im Sommer erscheinen. Das Basismodell soll erstmals eine Telekamera erhalten, bei den Sensoren könnte es ein Downgrade geben.

Bietet ähnlichen Funktionsumfang wie #Whatsapp #Signal #SignalApp und nutzt dafür aber Standard Internet Protokolle (Email Standards) für #E2EE über sog. chat relays. Diese speichern nur kurzfristig die (immer verschlüsselten) Nachrichten.
#deltachat läuft nicht nur auf #Android oder #iOS sondern auch unter #linux #macos #ubuntutouch oder wer unbedingt will auch #windoof
Man kann es gleichzeitig auf mehreren Geräten nutzen. Außerdem unterstützt es mehrere Profile.

Gestern festgestellt, dass #Android (Fairphone 3, neuste verfuegbare Version am 3.4.2025) bei .apk das Teilen per Bluetooth nicht angeboten hat. Wenn ich aber ein .mp3 *und* das .apk *gleichzeitig* teile, geht es per bluetooth und das .apk kommt am Ziel an.
Bug oder "Sicherheit"? Jedenfalls fishy... ich musste ein #ghostcommander-APK auf ein altes Android 5 bringen, das weder einen Filemanager noch internet hatte. Das ist legal und sicher! Kein Grund, es zu sperren!
