@zkatSay what you will about mastodon: the UX sucks, the community largely treats PoC and esp Black folks horribly, the moderation tools suck…
…but at least I can pick up my things and go to a different server if my admins decide to be terrible. The experience sucks, but I can always find another instance that will give me access to the network at large and let me connect with folks I want to talk to. I don’t have to leave the entire fedi just because my one instance is trash. (Note: this is a separate issue from the community as a whole acting like trash towards you to the point where no amount of moving around will actually help)
