(chorus)
I'm my own sysop
I'm my own sysop
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
Oh I'm my own sysop.

Now many many years ago as a lab employee
I started on a PDP 11/23
The lab soon modernized a bit and got Turbo Pascal
I started using that and it sure helped with my morale

This soon gave me some interest in writing my own code
But trying to make money there was really quite a load
To complicate the matter in a way I can't forget
There soon became this thing that people call the internet

I started using email and it really made things better
With nearly-instant transfer there's no waiting for a letter
Then suddenly the world wide web arrived upon the stage
I purchased hosting from MindSpring and made my own web page

Soon after that I started hosting on my own machine
With web, email and database, it really was quite keen
And every time I think of this it kind of makes me stop
As admin of my server box, I am my own sysop

(chorus)
I'm my own sysop
I'm my own sysop
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
Oh I'm my own sysop.

The inspiration for the parody -- @Harena got a copy of this message too. It warns that we need to re-validate an email account on one of my servers. Harena noted that this kind of email (which we receive a lot these days) is painfully transparent because "I'm my own sysop".

My brain, of course, was all "button-push challenge accepted!"

snarky (vaguely) comedic response

@woozle @Harena Be wary of buttons. Especially in e-mail. :)
