uuugh it's so much easier to just not care what happens to people who try to hurt everyone else

but dammit, if i forget they're human too and should have basic needs met, then it's easy for me to a) overlook bad behaviour from otherwise 'good' people b) start denying people basic rights when my judgement is mistaken and they're not hurting anybody

bluhhh why is trying to be humane so much effoooort 😞

sooo yeah. my emotions say, Bad Things ONLY Happen To Good People.

which, uh. intellectually i know that's not true. rains fall and winds blow on just and unjust alike.

so i guess i gotta watch out for that. not "they deserve any 'punishment' they get, because i hate them" but "their 'punishment' won't do more than inconvenience them, because i hate them."

bleh.

2/ and i don't want hateful people to have their needs unmet! i'm v. tempted to prioritize people who AREN'T trying to uphold oppression, but i still want EVERYONE to have food, clothes, shelter, security etc.

it's just my heart is convinced, if they could afford to be so massively bigoted they actually got fired, they must have a good safety net in place. because ostracization only kills good guys - bad guys survive

1/ just realized that i emotionally believe bad things only happen to good people

i mean the BIG bad things - stuff that threatens Maslow's - and where the person has insufficient safety net to recover in a sane way

and i mean people who aren't, iunno, massive bigots or something, who just want a world where everyone's needs are met

anyway, brain says 'person fired cuz minority? help them!' but 'fired because bigot? eh they'll land on their feet'

i really wanna see Columbo kick Trump's ass

i know it wouldn't fix any of the systemic problems in american society

but damn it'd feel good to see at least one highly visible node of evil get cut down to size by an aggressively lower/middle class smart guy

there's something pure about instructional videos for pattern/counting based #handicrafts

i have a cold and i'm stuck in bed and too tired to make anything myself, but my soul is being gently warmed by brightly colored yarn and smooth repetitive motion

all set to a friendly, patient voice
