Self care for perfectionists looks really different than most people expect:
1. Emailing back to say no, even if you've been procrastinating for two weeks.
2. Ignoring your inbox to go for a walk.
3. Recognizing people have needs, but that doesn't mean you have to be the one to fullfill those needs.
4. Taking time to document and celebrate your accomplishments.
5. Asking, "What if I didn't do that?" and accepting that there will always be something that needs to be done that won't be done.
@sphakos this plus
6. Take a break after work, even if there are things to be done. You can always decide to do or not do it when you’ve regained some energy
@sphakos Thank you for this. I need to put this somewhere so I see it everyday, several times a day. 💯
Self-care for perfectionists part 7: learning to just finish the thing and hand it up, and be ok with it not quite being perfect. Firing the inner editor who wants to bin the entire essay and start over 2 days before it's due. Learning to just finish it.
@sphakos 8. Start something even if you don't know exactly how to do it the most efficiently, because getting it done is more effective that not doing it at all.
@sphakos love this!
