this 'fact' brought to you by the new found knowledge that Asimov is a favorite of Musk's
@polymerwitch "I don't admire these millionaires-by-30. They're impressive, as are all the ballplayers and rock musicians who are millionaires-by-30, but that just means they are people who give a lot of people what they want---whether it is home runs, touchdowns or chocolate-chip cookies. ...

"The most marvelous accomplishments are those that people don't particularly want: great scientific discoveries; great experiments in art and literature; great labors in human endeavors. Such people die poor and unknown very often; sometimes on the cross." ---also Isaac Asimov
@bstacey @polymerwitch i was never really interested by him but i think i'm in love now
@CobaltVelvet @polymerwitch Fair warning: he could be rather a creep to women in person, even though he was very gung-ho, equality-of-the-sexes in writing. https://the-orbit.net/almostdiamonds/2015/03/18/right-where-dr-a-pinched/
@bstacey @polymerwitch oh

@CobaltVelvet
I suspect Musk liked that final passage in , going by memory here, Chronicles of the Galaxy, where a guy says something like "we'll use the market to have our way. Those planets who embrace it will thrive, the others will wither away".
Of course, north this bluntly and with better prose, but that's the gist of it. That's when I discovered propaganda.
