@squerk I was in Seattle a couple months ago. It was so weird seeing central district with condos and boutique stores in it.
@polymerwitch Agreed! I lived on Capitol Hill for about 14 years and finally had to move due to price hikes. I make it down to Portland quite a few times a year, and it's changing very quickly too. I hope the trend in both cities stops soon.
@polymerwitch There is affordable housing in Portland? 🤔
@Shufei yes, if you are willing to live in an unsafe environment such as an unfinished basement with no doors, no windows, and a 3 foot clearance into the "room" you have to crawl through
(this isn't a joke. I went through a competitive process with other potential renters just to look at said space. Once I found out the reality of it I backed out of course)
@polymerwitch That is crazygonuts. But I believe it.
You might check out getting a camper or rv to live south or north of the city? Plenty of farmers rent spaces on the QT. Calling it a “tiny home” polishes it for a certain set. I5 is no joke, though, so you have my sympathies regardless. 🙏🏼
@polymerwitch We have a very similar situation in Seattle, though a bit more expensive. It's a problem. :(
