question / thinking out loud without much references for other people:
(description STRING) already exists. I've been experimenting with making it (description (load (current-source-directory) "/pkg/DESCR")) where pkg/DESCR currently contains exactly the string that would be used normally.
Besides not adding much functionality at the moment (there was a design based on this, now paused), am I correct that this is adding 3 more function calls?

But I'd say: yes

there's a call to curent-diretory, one to sring-append and one to "load"

So it's 3 calls

Also I think it's

(description (load (string-append (current-source-directory) "/pkg/DESCR")))

because "load"" takes one argument only, I think
