reminder: trans as a term
if you're not cis that means you can call yourself trans
like, use they pronouns? trans.
still identify with your assigned gender? you can still be trans.
still use the same pronouns? still trans.
like, anything short of that means you still think of trans as an arbitrary medical or social term that ultimately locks folks out from exploring their identities and breaking out of the societal cage we've all been trapped in since birth
as trans folks we've got to stop trying to force some criteria of suffering or distress to be trans. trans folks can suffer, yes, and dysphoria is real and painful. that doesn't mean that we should define transness as this horrible, negative feeling -- it's a powerful and wonderful feeling to break out of that societal shell.
like any term, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. but know that you can, if you want.
