I endorse this thread from @ThatAndromeda@twitter.com about it being time for the Free Software Foundation to have a new President.
I'm struggling with a community development phenomenon that's been going on for a while around me, particularly in tech-centered Slack groups.
Something about the affordances of Slack combined with the tendencies folks to like to organize things, but aren't thinking about social schemas ends up making it arranged topically.
There's a problem here: relationships span topics. There's clusters of interest broader than that, and even then, it puts relationships secondary to topic.
Oh, that #nbpy hashtag was referring to North Bay Python, not enby python. 🐍

link to article on abuse; gamedev industry
Something powerful is happening this week; Nathalie Lawhead came forward and told how a man influential in the game development industry used that influence to prey on them as a vulnerable newcomer.
Nathalie's act of courage found support, and that seems to have opened the floodgates for some people. Numerous others have spoken out against their abusers.
As Zoë put it, "Nathalie threw a brick."
I'm linking to the Kotaku article here because an article is an easy thing to link to, but the stories are reverberating all around gamedev birdsite.
cat medical care fundraising
I know there are an overwhelming number of these asks, but since this is the .cat instance, I thought of bringing this here.
This sweet boy, Monstro, is six years old and undergoing urgent surgery. His prognosis is good, but it's a big medical expense.
Chain of thought:
• nighttime noisy neighbors and daytime loud engine yard equipment are bad.
• I should live on the Moon, like Spaceboy.
• I wonder what Internet latency from the Moon is like.
• round-trip distance is around 2,500 ms 🙁
• how are we going to do fully automated luxury gay space communism with ping times like these?
