It's difficult to separate art from the artist. Even though work can live on without its author, even find new life through fans and derivations. I get why people are disappointed.
With social media there's so much more opportunity to learn what's inside creators' heads. And so often it's, just like for most other people, garbage.

as you mention, artists can be just as crazy and abusive as anyone else might be
MUSIC
sounds can be organized in ways that i find very compelling
there are many examples of #shitheadMusicians
but the sounds they created may still be interesting to me
i can abstract the art from the artist
(software dev is abstraction)
but i don't think there is only one answer here
each can decide for themselves how much is too much
