I'm a designer and developer with 15+ years of professional experience and I would absolutely agree culture is more important than code.

I won't go as far to say as coding is easy, because it isn't. The effort it takes to create a platform is considerable. It's why we don't have that many options when it comes to social media.

But culture? That's HARD. Fostering an environment that's open and inclusive and limits abuse? That's so much more difficult.

@Are0h I would also go out on a limp, and say that coding would be much more approachable today hadn't all the amazing women who invented it been pushed out of the profession over the decades 😒

@tethre It's very possible. The bar for getting into programming is so much higher if you're not white and a dude.

And having worked in those space for awhile, it's far from a meritocracy. It's just white dudes hiring their friends, which has lead us to culture in tech that we see now.
