Made a quick blog post to follow up on a couple of minor things I mentioned last month + sharing a cute story about a local currawong 😊: jayeless.net/2022/08/quick-lif

@jayeless I’m glad your sis made it back! I’m noting the transport museum for my next trip to London.

@cheribaker Another one that seems good is the Postal Museum! I didn't know about it when I went, but I saw a YouTube video about it a few months ago. They let visitors ride a train on the private underground line they used to use to move mail around between different sorting depots 😃

@jayeless OMG that sounds awesome! I love trains. And logistics.

@jayeless Glad to read your sister recovered and made it back safely! Now you’ve got me wondering if there’s a SAD device I can deploy during the summer, to make me even minutely less irritable while sweating from my earlobes.

On a side note, how do you get the “reply on Mastodon” to show up on your post with the link to the actual toot? I’m wondering if something similar can be setup via plugin or API in Micro.blog.

@pim Sorry to say I know nothing about stuff that helps with the type of SAD that strikes in summer, but it sounds worth looking into, and I hope you find something!

Unfortunately the "reply on Mastodon" thing on my site is totally manual; I crosspost the post and then copy-paste the URL from Masto into my post's frontmatter in Hugo, haha. I'm sure there must be a way to automate it, but it's a bit beyond me.

@jayeless Apart from moving somewhere with central air at least, I’m not sure either. Do they have internet access in Antarctica? 😂

I might have to do some digging and see if there’s a way to automate this Mastodon interaction. I love the idea, as it’s just like the “reply by email” plugin. The fact that Micro.blog can syndicate with Mastodon—and even offer following users in its timeline—makes me very curious if this is possible somehow.

@pim Heh, the only other thought I have is maybe black-out curtains, if the long daylight hours are throwing out your sleep pattern? (That's if you don't have them already.) Otherwise, yeah, I'm not sure.

I wish you luck with the Mastodon/MB investigation!

On the internet, everyone knows you're a cat — and that's totally okay.
