Reading up on the requirements for the low-income discounted fare program at TriMet, my local transit authority, and I wonder how many people actually get through the hoops.
You have to present proof of eligibility at one of only fifteen locations across the three-county area. None of them are open before 8am or after 5:30pm or on weekends. Some you have to call ahead to make sure they'll have someone available to help you.
And once you've done that, you have to take the receipt they hand you to a different location, in downtown Portland, which is also only open weekdays during standard business hours.
After all that, you still have to pay 50% of the full fare.
@jamey that is, to use the scientific term, utter bollocks.
@meena no argument from me 😞
