I'm kinda irked that nobody gives credit to calagator.org/ for having been an open source alternative to Meetup for more than a decade already

@jamey 🤷‍♂️ If someone pointed me to that, I would not have been able to tell you that it was a meetup alternative. It looks like a calendar for events in Portland.

Clicking around a bit, I still don't think it's a meetup alternative.


@Kihashi I'm not going to argue with you, because whether it's a legitimate replacement depends on what you believe the defining traits of Meetup are. All I want to say is that it's been a great force for community here.

@jamey Legit. It probably depends on what your group is doing as to what you consider a meetup "MVP". I was thinking of how my own group uses it, but of course, we are one among thousands.
