me, any time programming comes up: this reminds me that we should unionize

me, whenever there is a data breach: programmers should definitely unionize

whenever corpers use software for blatantly evil stuff that gets people killed: yeah we should definitely unionize

whenever i meet another programmer: have you ever thought about... unionizing?

whenever i hear “meritocracy”: oof, sounds like we need a union

whenever another programmer mentions unionizing: solidarity forever! solidarity forever! for the union makes us strong

i am always two key words away from singing solidarity forever, and for our mutual safety i cannot reveal them

@inmysocks hah! you didn’t think it would be th— It is we who plowed the prairies; built the cities where they trade;
Dug the mines and built the workshops, endless miles of railroad laid;
Now we stand outcast and starving midst the wonders we have made;
But the union makes us strong.

Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
Solidarity forever,
For the union makes us strong!

@garbados @inmysocks

Well, at least it gave us the 5 day work week. And the idea of vacation/sick pay. Job site safety. And a zillion other things we hardly notice anymore.

Unions have their shares of issues, but they are far outweighed by *not* having unions. Yes, programmers should unionize. Lawyers and doctors are doing it, too.
