I just hacked xrandr to render a virtual display so I could use LibreOffice presenter mode without an external monitor AMA
@libc luckily this is a 3 step fix!!!
@ehashman that's really cool! have you written it up or do you have a link to somebody else's writeup or something?
@jamey I'm going to blog about it, I had to cobble something together from a combo of incomplete stackoverflow answers and arch forum posts..
@ehashman I look forward to seeing that blog post then 😁
@ehashman Neat! I learned things! 👍👍
@ehashman (most?) browsers only allow you to screenshare either your whole desktop or a single window. i often want to share two windows. do you think a similar hack could be used to achieve this (by placing the two windows in the Xrandr display, and then sharing the display's "window")?
@Odd_Bloke the issue that I needed a workaround for is that LibreOffice refuses to launch presenter mode in single-display mode. I'll see if I can dig up the bug
@ehashman Just yesterday I struggled with this exact problem on my partner's macos+powerpoint setup. What a ridiculous software restriction! I gave up and plugged in an extra monitor.
