@dthompson @cwebber I know the old multi-dimensional /. mod system was "too complicated" for mainstream use, but... I often feel like more dimensions and precision in the reaction click would be appropriate.

Mastodon has favorite and boost (the heart and repost on bsky)... Reddit still retains downvotes long after Facebook determined that negativity is sub-optimal for user monetization...

I most often feel that I want a distinction between liking the content of a message vs liking the fact that the content is being shared, but not rising to the level of wanting to re-share the content to my followers. I, also, feel like there's more to content rating than a binary: non reaction vs anything from "yeah, o.k. to OMG I LOVE THIS MORE THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!"

Of course, all open systems are ripe for abuse, but any algorithms might take into account the frequency with which a user reacts with intensity, someone who's always reacting at 11/10 level would get the same or even less automated notoriety for an 11 reaction as someone who rarely rates anything +1 rating something as a +1.
