gnu drama

wow, so 2 moderators of the public gnu-misc-discuss list added an additional 2 moderators. those 2 new moderators then revoked privileges from the original 2 moderators, and then had the nerve to tell people to be "kind".

The 2 previous moderators were critical of RMS, the 2 new moderators are not.

re: gnu drama

@dthompson how does anyone take the gnu project seriously at this point?

re: gnu drama

@feld legitimate question!

gnu drama

@dthompson i checked in when people were talking about more democratic governance a bit ago and that seemed like it could head a positive direction, but then this time i clicked around the postings for this month and almost immediately hit a digression into how hans reiser is in prison because the feminists have too much power in america, or something like that, and just... what the hell is even happening over there?

gnu drama

@ehashman allegedly I have misunderstood the situation but if so I don't know what actually happened and no one seems willing to explain further.

gnu drama

@dthompson in my experience FOSS folks do not seem to care that much about the optics, lol

gnu drama

@dthompson I have a longish story about the person, who they placed on indefinite moderation, but I will instead say this:

If someone has been so disruptive and rude/nasty for as long as he (the moderated user) has, the right answer is not moderation, but administrative action removing him until he can demonstrate that he's taken steps to address the deeper issues regarding his behavior.

@dthompson Apparently, the new moderators say that the former moderators got their position not legitimately. How true is that?
