But seriously, Riot does a good job talking to IRC, but it doesn't attempt to merge a Matrix conversation with an IRC channel like bridgebots.
#tcl on Freenode has bridges to both Slack and Jabber now and it's working out okay, but those are deliberate extensions of the IRC channel, not joining things that used to be separate.
@technomancy @dl @dthompson No it doesn’t. It keeps users who no longer exist around in the IRC channel, it doesn’t update the user list on the Matrix channel ever (users who left stay forever), etc. It’s pretty terrible, so much so that Hackint banned the bridge and Freenode people are also pretty annoyed. Something like Biboumi works so, so, so much better.
