  • Per-unit heating and cooling costs are decreased (shared walls -> reduced heating/cooling loads.
  • Communal foodservice. Whether informal or commercial foodservice, meal prep and production occurs at scale. (The low-ooccupancy unit, highly-appointed kitchen is a recent novelty.
