These are words like I feel need to get in front of a lot more eyeballs.

US pol petition

DT is bringing out my inner phrase-lathe...

petition: Sign the petition: Stop Trump from blocking aid to states with sanctuary cities

me:

Trump's anti-immigrant fearmongering is absolutely asinine and needs to be met with the strongest possible condemnation.

...alongside all the other asinine and ridiculous things he does, of course. The guy is a parody of self-assured ineptitude. Please firmly tell him NO and send him to his room without any dinner.

I got CATS! I started out with one cat....and yesterday i rescued a stray mama and her four very wild kittens. Im keeping them seperated from my kitty until a vet can check them out.

The mama has been left behind when her owner was evicted several months ago. I think most of the neighborhood leaves food and water out for her. I know during the winter ive let her inside.

About a month ago i could tell she was preggers. So ive been keeping an eye on her. Well I noticed she had lost her weight...so I followed her to her nest. She had made a hole in a full trash bag that is still at the home she used to live in. Inside this hole were four kittens. She actually let me get them out, and i brought them and her home. They now all have a home now!
Mama (Ive named Betty) is going to live with my son and he is also taking a kitten. My Daughter recently lost her two cats to old age. So she is going to take two kittens. And I am going to keep a kitten

Busy day working on the yard! We put up the bunk bed for our grands. Im sure we will be hearing thuds tonight! lol

A GREAT man is what he is, because he was what he was.

Dear LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, Dice, and others who send me job listings for which you think I'm a "perfect match!!" (especially LI and ZR):

Please stop sending me positions that require a degree. I don't have one, and I'm not going to get one.

Unless it's an honorary degree for being awesome.

Sincerely,

Me

USPol / COVID

Speaking as someone working in healthcare, married to someone working in grocery

We don't want you to congratulate us or call us heroes

We want you to punish the government that allowed all this to happen

They put you, your friends, and your family at risk

We were gonna have to work, pandemic or not. Our politicians have a job to do, I understand it's easy to forget that because they never do it, but please

Hold them accountable. I don't want a pat on the back.

Depression era Frosting for Cake
While cake bakes, make frosting by whisking together powdered sugar, cocoa powder and salt, if using, in a large bowl or mixer.
Add water, softened butter and vanilla extract, and beat together until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar for a thicker frosting and more water for a thinner frosting.
Remove cake from oven and let cool before frosting.

Depression Era cake

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon coffee
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
Frosting:
2 1/2 -3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch salt,
Preheat oven to 375º F and lightly grease two 9-inch cake pans with butter
Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl, then whisk in water, oil, cider vinegar, coffee and vanilla extract.
Stir until no lumps remain, then pour mixture evenly into greased cake pans.
Place in oven and bake for 24-26 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

I find myself losing track of time in our state's shutdown. Oh- what day is it? That kind of thing. I am enjoying working with my grand on her school work, though. I think she enjoys staying with us and our small urban duck flock. (We also have a pet chicken, dogs and a cat!) How are you all doing?
